Using the Amazon Grid Filter Plugin

Download the Plugin Add-on

Before installing the plugin, make sure you are using Amazon Product in a Post plugin version 4.0.3.3 or higher.

Do the following first:

• • Go to plugin settings under the Amazon product menu in the admin. Click on the “Styles” tab and check “Use My Styles”.
  • In the box below the checkbox (where the styles go), delete all the styles that are there and then add the following:
    .amazon-grid-filter-element {height: 350px;}
.amazon-grid-filter-wrapper {border: 0 none;}
.amazon-grid-filter-element{border: 0 none;}
  • You may need to adjust the 350px in the above style if the grid is too small. This depends on the theme.
  • Then save the settings.

To use the plugin:

1. Create a new post/page as usual. Go in to the editor in “Text” mode.
2. Add the plugin filter shortcode first with just a “tags” parameter ([amazon-grid-filter-links]). The tags should be pipe | separated. Example:
   [amazon-grid-filter-links tags="Category One|Category Two|Category Three"]
3. Add the [amazon-wrap-start] shortcode. This is the start of the products.
4. Add each category shortcode ([amazon-grid-filter]). The shortcode should have the following parameters:
   • tag – a category that should match one of the tags in the [amazon-grid-filter-links] shortcode you added.
   • columns – Number of columns to have. Default is 4, so anything else needs to be specified.
   • trim_title – Since titles can be long, this is the number of words to trim the title to. It will add “…” to the end. Recommended “5”
   • button – The type and color of the button. See blow for buttons you can use.
   • asin – All the ASINs you want in that category (no limit).
5. Add the [amazon-wrap-end] shortcode. This is the end of the products.
6. Update/publish the post.

Tips:

• Don’t have a line break between the [amazon-grid-filter] shortcodes or the [amazon-wrap-start] shortcode otherwise WordPress will add <p> tags where the new lines are.
• Have the title_trim set to 5 or 6 max. or the boxes will not be in a nice grid layout.
• In the Plugin settings, check to hide the title bindings. This will make the titles a little shorter as well.
• In the [amazon-grid-filter-links] shortcode, you can add the tags in the order you want them to appear.
• The tags in the [amazon-grid-filter-links] shortcode MUST MATCH EXACTLY to the tag you add for the [amazon-grid-filter].
